I Will Get There

Written last year but felt I would share it now here...


The sadness hangs
like a shroud that envelopes me
Invisible
to all but me
Others see the smile
that hides the pain
The laughter
that I know is a lie
He has moved on
I'm still here
They are happy
She wears the glow of love
I once did
He loves her
I sit watching
hurting
in pieces
alone

But in the distance I see
a place of light
of love
from those
who support me
who give me
their strength
when I lack
my own
to continue on
Sometimes I wonder
if I will ever feel the warmth
that the light shows
Will I reach it
But then I remember
one breath at a time
one step at a time
I will get there
It won't always be like this
I won't always hurt like this
I won't always feel
left behind
in time
I will be
whole
