This is a novela written in five parts, covers four years in the lives of Matthew and Mark Rattigan, twins being raised by a widowed mother in the years immediately after World War II. The tale examines Matthews exploits, sexual and otherwise, with his fellow prisoners and with the order of monks who run Dragonshead Correctory. It also follows Mark's progress from the day he is sentenced to death until he is hanged. |
