Very interesting, Sir.
It appears that both accounts are true, the location is what appears to differ. The man made firefall, which was discontinued in the 60's occured at Camp Curry from the top of Glacier Point. The natural phenomenom occurs yearly at Horsetail Falls of El Capitan.

Well Sir,

It appears that there are two different stories regarding the "fire falls" of Yosemite. One tells of a child that witnessed the sunset ritual of dumping the fire, and one that states it's a natural occuring phenomenom, that happens rarely, only during the month of February, if the weather permits.
I'll do more investigation, not because I disbelieve you Sir, but I'm perplexed as to how there could be such a discrepency.

Interesting, it was explained to me totally differently. I will do some investigation. I don't like misinformation, especially when it came from a former mentor, makes me wonder what else I was misinformed about.
