Wish I'd grown up playing hockey, it's the coolest thing ever. But I grew up in the western US, was on skis by five since we lived in the foothills of the mountains, but never even had skates on my feet until eight years ago. I'd always wanted to play hockey, finally decided that I'd suck it up & take skating lessons - me & a buncha six year old kids. If you can take that humiliation, you can take anything! I've been to one Canadiens' game when I was in Montreal for a tournament - it was just electric, both the game & the city itself after the Habs won. While the Blue Jackets have a nice arena, it doesn't have any of the feel or the history.

I read one of your posts today - glad to find out I'm not the only hockey player around here!! I play with a couple of men's rec teams as well as women's travel & women's rec teams, have even coached a couple of girl's teams. You're so right that hockey is a religion...
