Angelus walked the streets slowly, noticing all the other people around in her in such a hurry. Time and rush had no real concept for her her, she was immortal. Not in the fantasy sense like vampires but in the medical definition she could not die naturally. Angelus had been an agent with the government and had volunteered for some scientific experiments soon after she transferred to the medical labs. That had been in the beginning when the government was still new.
She might be considered on the run now but she really wasn't running any where. Some time between then and now she had wanted out and with the training she had, it had been easy enough for her. Angelus could work the system and stay low key but not have to be paranoid. The agency had undergone several reformations since her escape and in the shuffle her existence had nearly been forgotten.
Over the years she had made it a habit to keep tabs on her chances of remaining forgotten and they seemed to get better every passing year. Scientist die and records and files are forgotten. Only a hand full had even heard of her and even less believed that such was true. There were a few others that had undergone the same medical procedure but from what she knew they had been terminated over time.
No one had really expected the procedure to work and when it did, she guessed the government realized the serious mistake it had made. Over population and crowding would start as soon as civilians started having the surgery. It was also her guess people might be hard to control if they had a chance to live forever. At any rate it worked and the mistakes never had a chance to be worked out.
It had been too many years since she had even come close to having a brush with the government agents. Angelus had helped build some of the very minor parts of the computer systems and though she knew nothing of the new and more fancy system the basics were enough of the same to keep ahead. Angelus knew it was bound to happen some day but she still thought herself good enough.
She did not really think it would be so bad to go back and once again become the agent she use to be, she just didn't want to end up in a cage. It had always been her opinion she might have better options than the other animals, the vampires, and werewolves and such that was a freak of nature. After all she was human and part of a controlled situation not some random happening or contamination.
Today she did not really have a destination in mind, just to keep walking. Early she ad felt a shiver run down her spine, thinking she was being followed but she could not say for sure. The feeling had lasted all day and was still with her but no matte what she tired to do she could not shake the feeling. She thought if the government was watching her, they would have already grabbed her for questioning. From what she knew they were not ones to simply wait things out. As was no one had approached her or even gave her second glance.
Deciding she was just feeling wiggy today she turned antoher corner, a thought coming to mind that a little shopping might take her mind of the issue. The shopping areas were still several more blocks but she did not feel any great hurry. The feeling had lasted this long so she was not worried about a few more minutes of traffic
